Life on Mars

BQI hosted a Life on Mars public event at the Sydney Opera House in August 2017, as part of the Sydney Science Festival and National Science Week. Led by former host of ABC’s Catalyst program, astrophysicist Dr Graham Phillips, the event brought together a panel of international scientists to discuss the exciting future directions of space exploration.

The panel included Arizona State University theoretical physicist Professor Paul Davies, Australian astrobiologist and NASA scientist Dr. Abigail Allwood, NASA Mars 2020 mission Program Scientist Dr. Mitch Schulte, and UNSW geobiologist and BQI Director Professor Martin Van Kranendonk. The event attracted many students and young people, with almost 2000 total attendees.
